Hybrid Workshop

This presentation will not only help you make ethical decisions in working with clients but will also keep you awake! Join Dr. Jodie Elder for an engaging discussion focused on applying the most recent rules and ethics codes in the counseling, marriage and family therapy, and social work worlds. This workshop will fulfill the Texas Ethics Requirements.

Objectives:

  1. Participants will distinguish between the Texas Occupations Code, the Texas Administrative Code, and Codes of Ethics

  2. Participants will identify three new rules recently passed by BHEC member boards

  3. Participants will learn and apply an ethical decision making model to ethical situations

More about Jodie:

Jodie Elder is a Licensed Professional Counselor-Supervisor (LPC-S) and a Licensed Marriage and Family Therapist (LMFT). She earned a bachelor’s degree in Psychology from the University of Texas at Austin, a master’s degree in Professional Counseling from Texas State University-San Marcos, and a Doctorate in Counselor Education and Supervision from Texas A&M University-Commerce. Over the past 15 years, Jodie has provided counseling services for children, adolescents, families, couples, and individuals in various agency and private practice settings. In addition, Jodie helps to shape the next generation of counselors through her work as an Adjunct Faculty at Southern Methodist University, and she currently serves as a professional member of the Texas State Board of Examiners of Marriage and Family Therapists.
